Michigan Family Travel Favorites

 

All families traveling to Michigan (and Michigan Families too) will likely enjoy spending time at one or more of the following. So, in no particular order, are Michigan Family Travel favorites!

Each month we highlight about 10 great activities throughout the state, from Monroe to Marquette and everything in between. We hope you check out some of these ideas and support our wonderful cultural resources in Michigan. For a recent list of ideas, please check out this post. 

The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation-Located in Dearborn. The Henry Ford is a cultural gem featuring wonderful displays of American culture from the collection of Henry Ford. Detroit Historical Museum- Located in Midtown Detroit, this wonderful museum is a great starting point for understanding the history of Detroit.

Michigan Science Center- Don't you and your children love to explore the natural world? From physics to phylums, you'll have fun and learn too!

Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum- Climb on a rock wall, run an old-fashioned country store, create a code, and learn with wonderful interactive exhibits and great demonstrations.

Grand Rapids Children's Museum- What child, aged 2-10 would not love to play in a car, make giant bubbles and create music?

Upper Peninsula Children's Museum- You get to crawl through a tree and a really huge human body. That is enough enjoyment for anybody!

Museum of Natural History-University of Michigan- Dinosaur bones. Is there anything more to add?

Michigan State University Museum- This small gem is affiliated with the Smithsonian and features wonderful exhibits on Michigan natural and cultural  history. 

Impressions 5- Located in the heart of Lansing. Nano-technology, electromagnetism, and lots more!

Michigan Firehouse Museum- Located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This features antique fire trucks, fire-fighting equipment, a barracks display and more. The fire trucks are stunningly beautiful works of engineering and design. 

Frankenmuth Historical Museum Located right in downtown Frankenmuth, this museum is definitely worth a visit. It features the story of the German immigrants who travelled across the ocean to set up a new life in America. Very impressive small museum.
