The circus is in town! A great family friendly event is being held May 14th at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie- the Shrine Circus! There are two shows. A circus never fails to bring a smile to a young person's face and the Shrine Circus is one of the best. If you are nearby- you will not want to miss this!
The Farmington Community Library is hosting a Songwriters in the Round event at the Main Library. This all-ages event features Lauren Crane, Marty Kohn, Jo Serrapere, and Luti Erbeznik performing their diverse array of songs. Sunday May 7th at 2pm.
In the mood for to join in the singing? Check out the Sing Along with Cathy Wales at the U.P Children's Museum on May 9th and 23rd at 11am. This event is free with museum admission.
Even more music? The Redford Civic Symphony Orchestra, presents a free concert on Sunday May 21st at 3pm at St. Sabina Church in Dearborn Heights. This will feature a dramatic presentation of Peter and the Wolf featuring the dynamic narrator of Patricia Mussin. You won't want to miss this.
Spend some time at Michigan's Heritage Park at Hilt's Landing in Whitehall, Michigan. This family, friendly historic park opens May 1st and features 10,000 years of Michigan history and family craft activities. Be sure to support this great cultural resource!

Also Memorial Day Weekend, Newaygo is hosting it's Memorial Day Arts and Crafts Festival. This three-day event featuring unique hand-crafted items, independent artisans as well as delicious food is a great way to kick-off the summer fun in a great downtown.
Be sure to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature. Maybe check out Iargo Springs boardwalk and interpretive path near the Lumberman's Monument outside Oscoda. The stairs are a challenge, but it is very peaceful and features lovely views of the Au Sable River.
